  • A black indelible marker for writing on glassware
  • A slim (thin) A4 binder with at least 10 plastic sleeves to protect and organise your work
  • BE ORGANIZED: EVERY WEEK check you have plenty of sheets of clean lined paper in your bag for notes. Regular borrowing of paper is unacceptable

  • Some device for tying hair back if you have long hair (e.g. 'chouchou')
  • 'New Chemistry for You' and 'Advanced Chemistry for You' books for revision review and exercises

Any questions about the above requirements should be asked in the first week of class, after that I will consider that you understand what is required.

As many of you will already know the school has been developing a new, more practical, student-centred approach to science teaching over the last few years. In 5ème and 4ème this involves a broad interdisciplinary approach. At 3ème we will be studying within the traditional subject frameworks (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) but also continuing to listen to, and help you develop, your ideas about science. Hopefully in novel ways.

This year you will also be expected to use the books "Chemistry for you", Biology for you" and "Physics for you" for exercises and alternative explanations. But do not expect to follow the books page by page. This is not our objective at EABJM.

In Chemistry we start by studying ions - building on your experiences in 4ème and 5ème.
